"The Trinity"
God The Father - God The Son - God The Holy Spirit

Is this doctrine man-made?

This topic is one of the most controversial off all!

Is it scriptural? Where is it found in the bible? Where did the teaching originate?

The following are my thoughts and interpretation.

1) There Is one God. Creator of the universe and all within it.
2) Jesus was the human born
Son of God. His father is GOD, as confirmed by scripture. His mother is Mary, a human.
3) The Holy Spirit is The Comforter, The Teacher, The Spirit of God,
Sent By Jesus 50 Days After He Ascended To His Father, God, As He Promised.

I am open minded and limited only by the written word of God and wisdom from the Holy Spirit.

This topic is one of the most controversial off all...
It is doctrine taught by Catholics and Protestants alike... After all, the Protestant doctrine is a spin off of the Catholic doctrine.

A very close friend suggests that there is no need to further explain it... "just accept it the way it is." In other words, since I am okay, just leave it alone and drift into my position in the Kingdom. Perhaps that should be my attitude but I can't... here is my attempt to present some explanation without making it confusing or complicated. By-the-way, I don't enjoy going against doctrine that is accepted and taught by the very large majority of Christian denominations, including the Catholic church.

This is the way I see it. As always, my belief is based in scripture, not doctrine.

As I understand, "God in three persons" was accepted during the meetings of the Council at Nicea which began about 325 AD and continued (intermittently) for about 70 years... (I believe)

It appears that many other beliefs were brought into the church, along with some Pagan beliefs! At some point in time, Easter was introduced and accepted by the early church, when in fact Easter is a Pagan observance of the fertility Goddess... Christmas is not and was not a Christian celebration... The list goes on and on! I find that the Trinity is not in line with the gospel, therefore, I feel that someone needs to try to bring it back into line with the true scripture and message "intent." This is not a job that I welcome! Somebody has to do it!

I can find scores of declarations by Jesus Himself, declaring that He is the SON of God. Jesus constantly referred to "His Father." See one of these statements made by Jesus concerning the end time events... Matthew 24... vs 36“However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.

So far I have only found one scripture in the New Testament that would imply that Jesus is God. At least a scripture that the reader doesn't have to have a tremendous imagination to interpret as such... That would be in the gospel of John: John 1 -  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

In the original Greek, "LOGUS" was translated into "WORD." "LOGUS" does not clearly mean "WORD" but was the closest (single word) translation... Therefore that is not clear. In our culture and language there are (I believe) other words that would be more exact but that is not up to us to change or alter the scriptures to satisfy our opinion of how understandable it is. Working within those requirements this is the best I can do.
For definition of Logus or Logos.

Also, "THE WORD" was not explained to be the Son of God - only that He ("The Word") was WITH God from the beginning. Now for the real puzzle - "and the Word was God." Were it not for those five words it would be "cut and dried" and very simple. Those five words make Jesus' repeated claim to be THE SON OF GOD a bit more difficult. Given the choice between the disciple John's writings (concerning the question about "logus") and Jesus... I must lean towards Jesus' explanation. Jesus said he was the "Son of God" and He repeatedly said He was the "Son of Man." I will take His word for it... He was the human born Son of God... God is not born of humans and the first of The 10 Commandments tells us, "You must not have any other god but me." I can't accept a doctrine that rewords the scriptures. Jesus wants you to obey His Father's laws! His Father's first commandment was; "You must not have any other god but me." Same goes for the Holy Spirit... I love Jesus and I love The Holy Spirit but they are not God. They were necessary for me to achieve salvation! I love them!

The teachers and preachers have a passionate way of taking us through several scriptures and after a little twisting they seem to be satisfied with their doctrine. I must rely on God and His Son to not make it so complicated that we can't read it... It is not there. I trust that God, His Son and His prophets were able to state it clearly, if it were fact.

There is a vast difference between being GOD and the HUMAN-BORN SON of GOD who was born of a human, Mary.

God's Holy Spirit, spiritually impregnated Mary and Jesus was the child... Jesus' Father is God and His mother was Mary, a human being who was chosen to give birth to the Savior, the Son of God. This child is to be considered as the SON OF MAN... A MAN WHO MUST BE TEMPTED AND HAVE THE SAME HUMAN TEMPTATIONS AS WE (humans) HAVE... HE WOULD OVERCOME THESE TRIALS AND BE THE ROLE MODEL OF ALL MANKIND WHO IS SEEKING THE WILL OF GOD.

His innocence made Him the Unblemished Lamb Of God. As I understand, this was necessary to comply with the laws of this realm... the requirement for the sacrifice of this perfect Lamb of God was necessary to pay for the original sins of man. This may be one of the hardest things for many of us to understand. It has been for me. The same law required of man was honored by the Creator in the sacrifice of His Son. You remember the story of Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son Isaac... Abraham was told to sacrifice his own son Isaac but at the last moment God told Abraham to STOP! It was good enough that Abraham was willing to be obedient to God. Many times I have seen this played out here in this day... The willingness to honor God's requirements was all that was required. That is another page. http://www.buysellfind.net/john33/why/

GOD IN THE FORM OF THE CREATOR WAS NOT BORN OF A HUMAN! To believe that the Creator, a spiritual entity, enabled a child to be born whose Father is spirit and Mother is human and the human-born child is GOD, is much the same as the beliefs of the OCCULT! The same belief that the evil ones will claim when the anti-Christ is revealed.

Jesus' Father is spirit and his mother was human! Therefore, JESUS IS NOT GOD! JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD as well as the SON OF MAN! If you have read the scriptures you know that Jesus repeated the fact that HE WAS THE SON OF MAN many times.

You Decide...

Let me make myself perfectly clear! I believe in God The Father - I believe in The Holy Spirit and I believe in Jesus who is the Christ, The Messiah, our Savior! I do not believe that All Three Are God - "The Godhead" or any other descriptive term.

If the bible is the infallible word of God then believe it....

(Ref: 1 Cor. 8:6 and Eph. 4: 5 & 6)

1 Cor 8:6
But we know that there is only one God, the Father, who created everything, and we exist for him. And there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom God made everything and through whom we have been given life.

In that scripture (1 Cor. 8:6) Paul describes God and Jesus in the same verse... clearly saying that there is ONE GOD THE FATHER and ONE LORD, JESUS and he separates them. Below he says the same thing!

Eph. 4:5 & 6
There is only one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and there is only one God and Father, who is over us all and in us all and living through us all.

The Trinity Is NOT In The Bible - It Is NOT Scriptural! Nowhere have I found that The Holy Spirit is declared to be God - However - The Holy Spirit is from God.

Q: When did the teaching of "The Trinity" or "The Godhead" originate?

A: 4th century AD (325 AD) under Constantine's influence at the council of Nicea. The council decided to teach that Jesus was God in the flesh. As far I can see; never before was it declared that Jesus was God. He declared Himself to be the Son Of Man and the Son Of God.

I ask you... Does this sound like Jesus was God?
Read Matthew Chapter 12 beginning vs 15
... But Jesus knew what they were planning. So he left that area, and many people followed him. He healed all the sick among them, 16 but he warned them not to reveal who he was. 17 This fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah concerning him: 18 Look at my Servant, whom I have chosen. He is my Beloved, who pleases me  I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.19 He will not fight or shout or raise his voice in public. 20 He will not crush the weakest reed  or put out a flickering candle. Finally he will cause justice to be victorious. 21 And his name will be the hope of all the world.

Q: Does This (Trinity) Doctrine Prevent Some Jews From Accepting Jesus?

A: Faithful, God fearing Jews will not put anybody before God. For over 1600 years, well intentioned Christians have preached the Trinity Doctrine that becomes a stumbling block for God's chosen people! Amazing!

THE TRUTH ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURE...
JESUS BECAME THE SON OF GOD WHEN HE WAS BORN OF A WOMAN AND SIRED BY GOD. Jesus was The Only Begotten Son Of God - Jesus is The Messiah - Jesus is our Savior - By accepting Jesus and believing on Him we are able to be saved. Many times in the scriptures Jesus is declared to be THE SON OF GOD.
While here on earth, Jesus Himself referred to His Father in heaven... Jesus was with His Father in heaven but (then) as a unique relationship. Since Jesus declared that God is His Father that makes Him The Father's Son! Jesus (many times) referred to himself as SON OF MAN (human). Humans are not God! Humans are imperfect. God is perfect. His Son, Jesus was innocent, then upon His resurrection He became perfect. He sits at the right hand of His Father.

To Whom Did Jesus Teach Us To Pray?

Jesus said, "When you pray to My Father In Heaven, whatever you ask in My name shall be given to you." It looks to me that Jesus was saying that you should pray to HIS Father who is GOD but ask that it be heard in HIS name... the name of Jesus... and HIS FATHER GOD will hear your prayer.

Whatever the reason it is important for this man-made doctrine be widely accepted as fact. The Christians are taught to be fearful to even question the Trinity Godhead.

I will stay with the scripture - NOT some man-made doctrine that has been taught for so many centuries that it is not questioned. Remember what Jesus said: "Many will come to me saying, Lord we cast out demons in your name and I will reply, depart from me, I never knew you, the things you did were unauthorized." (paraphrased) You see, He is telling you that MANY (most) will believe on Jesus but it's the wrong Jesus. Don't be shocked! Most religions preach a completely different Jesus than is found in the scriptures. You are welcome to e-mail on this and I will explain AND you are welcome to have your pastor e-mail me and I will address this issue with him and we will publish the e-mail exchange for all to see.

Pagan beliefs and rituals were brought into the church in the early years. Some of the pagan rituals include Christmas... That's right! Of course Halloween is the most blatantly occult holiday that most Christians celebrate. Easter can't be far behind! Bunnies that lay chicken eggs? Do you know what that is about? It has to do with the pagan fertility god and the eggs represent fertility! Does that sound very "Christian" to you? Easter is supposed to be about the resurrection of Jesus Christ, not pagan fertility worship! Time for more scripture; "My people will perish for lack of knowledge."

Look to the scriptures and the Spirit of God for truth - not some man or man-made doctrine.

John
